ASA introduces new Executive Director

ALEXANDRIA, June 29, 2011– The Alexandria Soccer Association (ASA) announced today the hiring of Thomas “Tommy” Park as Executive Director of ASA.   John Timmons, President of ASA, stated “We are excited to bring new energy and direction to the Club.  Tommy is a proven leader with top level experience playing and coaching. ”

In his role as Executive Director, Tommy will oversee all soccer related issues for both travel and recreational programs.  Tommy will be supervising the Club’s coaching staff and is ultimately responsible for meeting ASA’s overall objectives in player and team development.  He will also look to create a more efficient and effective communication stream with Club members, coaches, and administrators.

Tommy comes to ASA with a wealth of teaching, playing, and coaching experience.  He was a regional All-American and captain at University of Mary Washington where he obtained his BS in Business Administration.  While in college, he played for the D.C United U19 Academy team and with the Fredericksburg Generals, a professional indoor team.  He spent the last four years teaching finance, economics, accounting at DeMatha High School where he is a varsity soccer coach of the recently undefeated and #3 ranked team in the USA.  In addition, Tommy has been a camp site director and Super 20’s coach for D.C. United.  His club team, SAC U19’s, is top 10 nationally and through Tommy’s development of players and network of college coaches, nineteen of the twenty rostered players are playing NCAA soccer.  Tommy will finish his Masters in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University this summer and is a USSF certified coach.

ASA Travel Commissioner, John LaValle, notes that “Tommy’s involvement will be both on the travel and recreational sides.  Working directly with our parents, coaches, and kids at the earliest age groups will create a stronger base for our Club to develop players at every age.  In addition, I am looking forward to seeing a stronger connection between our travel program and recreational programs that fosters a stronger club culture.”
