Supplemental Tryouts for Spring 2017

Though ASA has tryouts in May of each year for the full year travel teams, some teams will have supplemental tryouts in preparation for the upcoming spring season. 

It is important that evaluation criteria are transparent so that each player/parent fully understands the professional coaches’ recommendation for placement within the ASA travel or other programs. At tryouts, players will be evaluated on the following, among other things:

• Speed: Technical speed, pure speed, and speed of execution and/or speed of thought
• Technique: First touch/passing skills under pressure
• Character: Work-rate, coachability, desire (Do they work off the ball? Do they enjoy the game and have a love for the sport?)
