Supplemental Travel Program Tryouts for Spring 2017

Though ASA has the core tryouts in May/June of each year for the full year travel teams, some teams will host supplemental tryouts in preparation for the upcoming winter and spring season.

It is important that evaluation criteria are transparent so that each player/parent fully understands the professional coaches’ recommendation for placement within the ASA travel or other programs. At tryouts, players will be evaluated on the following, among other things:

• Speed: Technical speed, pure speed, and speed of execution and/or speed of thought
• Technique: First touch/passing skills under pressure
• Character: Work-rate, coachability, desire (Do they work off the ball? Do they enjoy the game and have a love for the sport?)
