ASA Director of Goalkeeping Rick Wilcox will host goalkeeper (GK) training sessions at Episcopal High School (EHS) in age-specific small groups this winter. Please click here to register for the winter GK training session.
What is Goalkeeper (GK) Training?
Regular functional training is critical to the development of aspiring goalkeepers (Boys and Girls ages U11-U18). The hour long sessions will cover the technical aspects of catching, deflecting, low and high ball diving, dealing with crosses, breakaways and through balls and distribution. Each practice will include footwork, core strength, explosiveness and agility. Leadership, tactics, reading the game and positioning will also be addressed during this 6-week session. Each goalkeeper is expected to wear a long-sleeve training shirt and gloves, and bring a ball and water.
Winter Session Schedule
U11/U12 GK Training will be from 2-3pm
U13 and older GK Training will be from 3-4pm
Where?
GK Training will take place in the Episcopal High School (Address: 3900 West Braddock Rd)
Cost
The fall GK training cost is $100 per player. This year, ASA has built in a portion of the GK fees into the travel budget, therefore the price of the program is heavily subsidized by the club. Because this is subsidized for ASA players, any non-ASA players wishing to participate, must pay an additional $50 fee.
